Heritage is not only memory – it’s also the future we choose to protect. That message resonates deeply at “Khơi Nguồn Di Sản” (Awakening the Heritage) – a new contemporary art exhibition now open at Củi Lũ Art Space, Hội An.
Running for one month, the exhibition brings together powerful works that explore the connection between memory, environment, and renewal. Among the many pieces on display, two standouts have caught the attention of art lovers and environmental advocates alike.
“The Vibrant Hues” – Beauty Painted from Plastic Waste
Created by a young artist from the Philippines, The Vibrant Hues is a vivid composition crafted entirely from discarded plastic bags. What was once waste has been transformed into layers of light, movement, and color. It’s not just a painting—it’s a reminder that what we throw away still carries life, meaning, and potential.

“Rêu phong” (Timeworn) – Memory Woven from the Sea
Vietnamese artist Nguyễn Ánh Dương brings a deeply local perspective with Rêu phong, a textured installation made from old fishing nets. This work speaks softly of Hội An’s coastal history, honoring the labor of generations while offering a powerful reflection on sustainability and the passage of time.

A Message of Environmental Awareness and Cultural Continuity
Through both works, visitors are invited to see art not just as a product of inspiration, but as an act of responsibility, restoration, and reimagination. The materials used—once abandoned—are now central to a conversation about how we relate to our environment and cultural past.
At Củi Lũ Art Space, we believe that art has the power to renew: to transform the forgotten, to awaken the overlooked, and to guide us into a more mindful future.
