To commemorate the 75th birthday of acclaimed writer Nguyễn Huy Thiệp (1950–2025), Củi Lũ Art Space, Nguyễn Huy Thiệp Art Space and Gallery39 proudly present a special art event: “GỐM THIỆP” (Thiệp Ceramics)

This exhibition marks several unique and meaningful “firsts”:

✨ For the first time, a large-scale ceramic collection — including vases and plates — is being exhibited, with each piece inspired by quotes, imagery, or emotions drawn from Nguyễn Huy Thiệp’s literary works.

✨ For the first time, over 42 visual artists have come together for a single exhibition — the largest number of participants in any event we’ve ever hosted.

✨ For the first time, the public will have the rare opportunity to view ceramic works painted by Nguyễn Huy Thiệp himself. These intimate pieces — portraits of loved ones, self-portraits, and depictions of fellow artists — were created during his lifetime as cherished gifts and personal expressions.

A total of 42 artists have contributed more than 200 ceramic artworks, each one a dialogue between literature and visual art. Some works draw from narrative arcs, dramatic moments, or a line of dialogue. Others feature entire excerpts hand-written on ceramic surfaces. Though crafted in traditional Bát Tràng blue-and-white — a monochrome palette — the collection pulses with diverse voices and rich emotional depth.

Together, these pieces are like 200 glowing candles — a luminous tribute to the 75th birthday of one of Vietnam’s greatest literary voices.

The exhibition will take place across three regions in Vietnam:

📍North: Center for Art & Culture, 22 Hàng Buồm, Hanoi

📍Central: Củi Lũ Art Space, Hoi An, Da Nang

📍Sout: Ho Chi Minh City
