JULY 2025 - THE FIRST ART CAMP IN HOI AN: 9 ARTISTS, 7 DAYS, 1 HERITAGE-INSPIRED EXHIBITION

📅 15–21.07.2025 | 📍 Cui Lu Art Space, Hoi An

For the first time in Hoi An, a large-scale art residency program will take place at Cui Lu Art Space, bringing together nine distinguished contemporary visual artists from across Vietnam. Spanning diverse generations, artistic styles, and cultural backgrounds, these artists will gather by the poetic Cổ Cò River to live, reflect, and create.

An Immersive Creative Journey in the Heart of Hội An

Over the course of seven days, from July 15 to July 21, 2025, the residency offers a rare opportunity for artists to work on-site and in conversation with the local environment — from the tranquil flow of the river to the stories etched into the land and its people. This unique setting fosters dialogue between contemporary artistic expression and cultural memory, encouraging each artist to imprint their personal voice onto works inspired by the rhythms and textures of Hội An.

At Cui Lu Art Space, art is not just made — it is born from the land, nurtured by the water, and shaped by everyday life. It is a place where silence speaks, where heritage breathes, and where the slow pulse of nature and memory becomes a creative force.

Final Exhibition: “Awakening the Heritage”

Culminating in a public exhibition titled “Awakening the Heritage,” the residency will open a vibrant art space that connects tradition with the contemporary. Through painting, sculpture, installation, and mixed media, the exhibition invites viewers to experience heritage through a new visual language — one that is deeply personal, reflective, and emotionally resonant.

This residency marks a meaningful milestone not only for Cui Lu Art Space, but also for Hội An’s cultural landscape, as it paves the way for future dialogues between local heritage and contemporary art practices.

Why This Matters

  • Cultural Preservation through Art: The residency promotes sustainable heritage by fostering creative reinterpretations rooted in place and memory.

  • Artist-Led Innovation: Each participating artist brings a unique voice to the shared experience, making the residency a ground for experimentation and exchange.

  • Art Tourism & Community Engagement: By situating creation within a living cultural environment, the project strengthens connections between artists, local communities, and visitors.

Whether you're an art enthusiast, a traveler seeking meaningful experiences, or a local supporter of culture, “Awakening the Heritage” is a rare moment to witness contemporary Vietnamese art in deep dialogue with Hoi An’s enduring soul.

Plan your visit to Cui Lu Art Space this July, and experience how art can awaken heritage — gently, powerfully, and beautifully.
